Chalet Rental in St. Moritz: Where to Stay and When to Book for Winter 2026/27
Updated: 16 hours ago
A chalet changes a winter in St. Moritz: your own table, your own rhythm, a fire at the end of the ski day and no hotel lobby between you and the snow. The right one, though, depends on where you want to be, how many of you there are and how early you start looking. This guide covers the areas, what a chalet usually includes, when to book for winter 2026/27 and what to ask before you sign.

Where to stay: the areas around St. Moritz
St. Moritz Dorf. The upper village, with the boutiques, the grand hotels and the funicular up to the Corviglia ski area. Best if you want to walk everywhere.
St. Moritz Bad. Down by the lake, quieter, close to the cross-country trails and the Signal cable car to Corviglia.
Suvretta. The residential area west of the centre, home to some of the largest private chalets, with easy access to the Corviglia slopes.
Celerina. The sunny village next door, with a gondola up to Marguns and the Corviglia ski area.
Champfèr and Silvaplana. A few minutes west, close to the Corvatsch ski area and the frozen lakes.
Pontresina. A traditional village at the foot of the Bernina range, close to Diavolezza and Lagalb.
What a chalet usually includes
Every chalet is different, and the price reflects it. Some come fully staffed, others with housekeeping only. When we shortlist chalets for a client, we check the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, the distance to the lifts, parking or a garage, and which services can be added: a private chef, daily housekeeping, a driver, childcare, a ski instructor who meets you at the door.
When to book for winter 2026/27
Christmas and New Year: as early as possible. The best chalets for the holiday weeks are the first to go, and many owners ask for longer minimum stays.
January and February: the event weekends fill up first: the Snow Polo World Cup (22–24 January 2027), The I.C.E. (29–30 January 2027) and White Turf (7, 14 and 21 February 2027).
March: longer days and quieter slopes, with the Engadin Skimarathon on 14 March 2027.
